Hahaha, if only all clients were this easy… I’d be done with projects in no time.
Awesome new on-air package for TBS. I really love the personality given to their logo. The typography and animation work very well for a TV identity. I love seeing these rebrands happen. I think they’re isn’t anything more exciting than a new TV identity. I think they can be so much fun even when if they’re just described or seen as static images they don’t seem like much. Take for example this or Comedy Central. Not much on paper but a pretty good looking and fun implementation on-air.
Of course, I leave the US and they finally roll this out. Figures. I guess I have something to look forward to in August.
As an avid foursquare user (now Superuser), I cannot help but feel disappointed that Walmart now has a presence on one of my favorite websites.
I understand that they aren’t the first large, internationally-recognized corporate colossus to make their way to foursquare. Walmart, however, seems to be the epicenter of the mass-produced, industrialized chain store movement that many (I would even say most) foursquare users have little to no interest in.
On their About page, the foursquare team describes the site as “a location-based mobile platform that makes cities easier to use and more interesting to explore.” This directly contradicts Walmart’s agenda, which is to single-handedly tarnish the identity and charm of towns and communities across the globe. While foursquare is busy promoting unique locales, both on and off the beaten path, Walmart has its heart set on destroying them.
And even though I’m disappointed about Walmart having a page on this incredibly useful and fun site, I won’t pretend it’s the end of the world. I sincerely hope, however, that foursquare doesn’t go the way of Facebook and Twitter and focus more on sponsorships from large corporations than the little independent venues that really do benefit from the service. I enjoy foursquare because it encourages me to visit places I wouldn’t otherwise consider checking out. People seldom shop at Walmart because they genuinely want to.
I’d just like to thank you for writing this. It’s exactly what I planned to rant about today (although written better). You’ve saved me the time and I appreciate it.
Christopher and I work in a valley near a small river which means when we go to work we pretty much fall down a hill and when we leave for the day, we climb out. This is usually fine when you are walking. Yesterday, when we were leaving for the weekend we realized we had exactly 2 minutes to get…
Yup, true story. Still can’t believe how crazy that was. Almost movie like in timing.
Totally awesome, watch them both, they’re short.
