Apple to manufacture Mac line in the US
NBC News: In an interview with Brian Williams airing tonight on “Rock Center,” Apple CEO Tim Cook says one of the existing Mac lines will be manufactured exclusively in the US next year.
Cook says he believes it’s important to bring more jobs to the US. “We’ve been working for years on doing more and more in the US,” he says.

There have been rumblings that the new iMac was being manufactured in the U.S., but now we have confirmation that at least something is U.S.-produced.
Cool. I hope that doesn’t mean a price increase, they already make a good profit on all of their stuff, I’m sure they could “take one for the team” on this.
The next iPhone will be the sixth iteration so why is everyone still calling it the iPhone 5? Pull your 4S out of your pocket, that’s a fifth generation iPhone. Even more frustrating, why do people think there’s a product called an iTouch. There isn’t. There never was. It’s called an iPod touch. Are you so lazy you can’t add an extra word? /rantoftheday

Your dad was an Apple Fanboy before you were and he’s attended the Keynotes to prove it. He was a Cupertino badass that repped the forbidden fruit logo harder than the Hell’s Angels repped their patch. The name “Bill Gates” was a curse word in his home and you’d get command key-stroke killed just for using it. He only needed one button to graphically interface his world because he appreciated the simplicity and beauty Saint Jobs crafted into every microchip masterpiece.
So hipsters, next time you’re rocking pants-granite over the newest iSomething or smugly sitting in a coffee shop looking down your screen at everyone tainting your Wi-Fi with their Dell, remember this…
Your dad can Command-E you out of existence if you ever step out of line or touch his iPad again.
P.S. Why do hipsters think Steve Jobs is so cool? Because he’s underground. (Too soon?)
This is my favorite one yet.
"Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd, but on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people."
New York Attorney Derek T. Smith • Speaking on behalf of his 83-year-old client, Evelyn Paswall, who injured herself on the glass door in front of a Long Island Apple Store. Despite her vision being intact, she didn’t realize it was glass and broke her nose. Therefore Paswall is suing … for a million dollars. FWIW, Apple put warning signs in front of the store as word of the lawsuit broke. (via shortformblog)
We’ve really got to stop allowing this type of thing. Just because you’re stupid and ran into a door or you burned your mouth on a hot coffee (or a slew of other idiotic things) doesn’t mean you deserve a bucket of cash. Stop clogging up our already-over-burdened legal system with ridiculous claims.

This is actually the craziest chart about Apple following their insane earnings today.
There is exactly one company on that entire list that is not an oil and gas company. And they’re not that far from the top.
That’s nuts. It wasn’t so long ago that the world had written Apple off completely and even the fanboys were fearing the demise of the company. What a turn around from the mid 90s.

It’d be cool if when you pull down the date menu in OS X it displayed a list of todays events from your iCal. I don’t think it’d be that hard to implement (at least for Apple) and it’d be really handy to get a glimpse of your upcoming events without having to open iCal or pull out your phone for a list.
Sometimes I wish if you were on your iPhone’s home screen and turned your phone to landscape, you’d get a “cover flow” view of your apps. It would also be awesome if there was some sort of list view that could be sorted (name, date added, recently used, etc.). Sometimes I just can’t find which home screen has my desired app.
Sincerely,
Christopher Jones, a designer you clearly need to hire.
