Hulu Eyeing Authentication, Requiring Cable | NY Post

popculturebrain:

According to the Post, Hulu is considering adding cable authentication to their service. Meaning, in order to watch you’ll need to log in with your cable or satellite provider.

This will no doubt make cutting the cord difficult but should also increase piracy. Good job TV industry.

Happy Surprise

Charter called me today. At first I thought this was another one of those “we’ll give you a big bundle of stuff that you don’t need and charge you more than you want to pay” type things. I was more than happily surprised when the lady on the phone tells me that I can get the 8mb internet (which i currently have), digital cable (which is a big upgrade from my 20 channels) and a landline phone (which I don’t need or want, but whatevs) all for the price that I currently pay. I was like ok, sign me up. So I’m going to have a landline phone. Seems like a waste of time and energy for them to put in. I mean I don’t even have a phone to use with it. But really, I’m excited to get the digital cable.

Just got cable and internet

I’m typing via the 5 meg cable modem connection at my new place. All I have is an empty studio apartment and internet and cable. Move should happen on Saturday I hope. The bad news of all of this is that the cable modem I got at a garage sale years ago is actually a charter modem, so now I’ve got to rent it… lame sauce. I’ll be buying a new one soon, I should have just traded Kevin I guess. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
