Jonesy Goes to the Movies (and sees himself in the movie): Cherry
Anyone in the Kalamazoo area last year might remember hearing of a feature film that was being filmed around town and on the campuses of Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University. Well, that movie was Cherry and its done and traveling the festival circuit. After it’s well-recieved review at the SXSW Festival in Texas, Cherry came back for a special campus screening in Kalamazoo. I had the pleasure of viewing it the other night and I have to say I was surprised at how enjoyable it was. For the record, I’m slightly biased as I not only live in and enjoy Kalamazoo and recognizing those places was awesome but I also was an extra as an art student. I even made it onscreen, albeit for a very short amount of time that could easily be overlooked. But on to the review…

This is the movie I was an extra in, I wish I could go see it. I hope it comes to Kzoo soon after it premiers.
