Venn Diagram Generator

I’ve always been a big fan of venn diagrams. That’s why I started a blog about them. I’ve often toyed with the idea of creating an app that would make it easy for anyone to quickly create a venn diagram. I’m pretty convinced just about any situation can be explained via venn diagram. In fact if you were to ask my friends, I often jump to a venn to make a point. Over the past couple years I’ve thought many times of various ways to make this venn generator. I thought maybe Flash was the answer (which it never is, by the way) and then started looking into native mobile apps on Android and iOS. But just two days ago I started reading up on the HTML5 canvas tag. As it turns out, it’s pretty powerful and I’m much more comfortable in HTML and javascript than Java or Objective-C. I started experimenting and within a couple hours had a functioning prototype of my first venn diagram generator. Over the next couple days I’ve been adding new features and functions and as of now, my Alpha 2.5 release is online. It allows you to create a pretty spiffy two circle venn diagram and even save it as a PNG. It’s not pretty yet, but it will be soon enough. So please go check out my Venn Diagram Generator. What do you think so far?

Venn Diagram Generator - Alpha 1 Release

I finally started an idea I’ve been playing with for years… an HTML venn diagram generator. It’s pure HTML5 and Javascript. This is my first alpha release. Much more is coming but I wanted to put it out there. Any thoughts, suggestions, complaints?

Google Swiffy

Quite possibly the best thing to happen to the web since CSS. I did a quick run with it and the results were great. Now, what would it take to get the world to start using this?

Steve Jobs: Thoughts on Flash

webkitbits:

Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.

This is a really good read. Lots of great points that make me hate Flash that much more.
