ShortFormBlog: Could mobile also-rans T-Mobile and Sprint merge? It's a possibility

shortformblog:

  • who T-Mobile, the U.S. mobile carrier owned by Deutsche Telekom, is a fourth-place also-ran in the cell phone market, one that Apple doesn’t even think about.
  • what There are rumors that Deutsche Telekom will sell T-Mobile to Sprint, the third-largest mobile company, in exchange for a stake…

Someone really should tell Sprint the difference between GSM and CDMA. Apparently they’ve already forgotten what it’s like to merge two cell phone providers on different networks (looking at you Nextel, I hear that wasn’t as easy as they thought). I don’t see a huge upside to this other than being a larger 3rd place network instead of a 3rd place and 4th place network. I wonder if they’ll stick to pink or yellow. Will it be T-Sprint? Someone wake me up when real cell phone news happens, speaking of, where the hell is that Thunderbolt on Verizon (a network that matters)?

AT&T Customers Report Most Dropped Calls, Verizon Least

In a new survey, AT&T scored highest in customer-reported dropped calls. AT&T also fared badly in terms of the number of customers reporting that they’re “very satisfied” with their wireless service….

And here once again is why I don’t have an iPhone yet. C’mon Apple, throw me a bone and put it on Verizon! Also, I can’t believe AT&T is as bad as T-mobile. That’s worse than even I expected.
